New Horizons

Wow! It seems so long ago when I first received the keys to the new shop space. Love Street Boutique has gone from near empty to almost having no room for new designers and artists. In a little over four months, Love Street Boutique has evolved from its grassroots and begun to really find its groove on the coast.

The time has come where we now have to say goodbye to the Waterfall Arcade store as the property will be receiving renovations. Love Street Boutique will close on the 24th of May and be replaced in the meantime with an online store, which will be accessible from our Facebook page and Official Website.

Love Street Boutique has proudly been a platform for over 20 local designers and artists to live out their dreams and grow their own businesses. We just can’t wait to get into our new digs!

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

Thank you to the local council and Create Innovate Gosford City for your unwavering belief in our vision and crazy dreams. Thank you to the designers and artists that have come on board to make Love Street Boutique what it is. Thank you to every visitor and customer that has come in-store, you drive me everyday! And thank you to my friends, family and fans that have supported me the whole way. Oscar speech over.

Our first week back saw Love Street Boutique welcome in-store the cutest collection of softies made by a lovely lady, Stacy, who taught herself to sew only last March – she’s an absolute natural! We initially fell in love with her little plush people, owls and puppies at the Swansea Salt Water Markets and asked her to come aboard. To our delight she enthusiastically agreed and now a small collection of Woof and Hoot have found their temporary home in-store on our hot pink couch waiting for you to give them a permanent home.

The week just gone by saw us introduce our first handmade fashion label by local designer Angela. A busy mum of three, she magically finds time to source on-trend prints and materials, design and then sew a range of quality outfits. From adorable playsuits and harem pants for toddlers that make you want to squeal with glee (and have babies of your own if you don’t already) to harem pants, playsuits, kaftan tops and maxi dresses for us more grown girls. It is a range that screams, “Summer! Beach! Festivals!” especially our favourite of all the designs – a silky pair of shorts with pom-pom trim!

This week we’ll say hello to more local labels – but more on that later…

That’s Sooo Last Year! | The Journey So Far…

Love Street Boutique

Every day with Love Street Boutique I continue to find something to get excited about and squeal like a little girl over. Trust me, it doesn’t go unnoticed how lucky I am to say that I am living my dream and am foolish enough to blindly chase these visions of mine. Despite the inundation of inspirational quotes you regularly see on Instagram or wherever, I do happen to be a firm believer in a lot of them – I really do believe that if you set your heart and mind on something, you can do it. You really, really can.

I remember when I first stepped foot into Love Street Boutique to tear out pages from coveted Russh magazines over the years and feeling really emotional – it was such a therapeutic and surreal experience as I tore out the pages I once intensely studied, dreaming of what was now an actual reality.

Love Street Boutique Shop Window

I am very proud of the little (and big!) milestones that myself and Love Street Boutique have achieved in only our first month – well, technically only two weeks of being open to the public via our “12 Days of Xmas” store preview. But to name some of Love Street Boutiques achievements there was a Christmas Showcase to the members and staff of our local council and affiliated organisations, our very first leg of our “Almost Famous Tour” promoting the store at the Gosford City Markets, being approached by the Central Coast Express Advocate for a feature in the last edition of the year and of course making those first sales during our store preview. Oh and just this week we wrapped up shooting and post-production on a little photoshoot with one of our labels, Lady Schmintage. Pretty good for a grassroots project with DIY shop fit outs, don’t you think?

And now Love Street Boutique is well and truly getting into its groove and is officially open for full-time trading from January 14th where we’ll be welcoming new designers and artisans every week to stock in-store and so much more on the horizon. Thank you, thank you, thank you all of you that have joined me on this journey – it’s going to be an amazingly fun one!

Love Street Boutique has recently teamed up with Lady Schmintage - stocking a growing cute and quaint collection of vintage clothing exclusive only to the Love Street Boutique store. Being a local lass and very much so on the same kind of page, we thought we’d share Chantelle’s story…
LSB: What is Lady Schmintage all about?
Chantelle: ”At 21, I’ve just finished by Bachelor of Communication, majoring in both Public Relations and Journalism. With young dreams of being a writer, I scored a couple of internships and eventually jobs in magazines while studying. Much to my surprise, I found myself working in the fashion department and even more surprisingly - loved it.
Lady Schmintage began in May 2011 through an inability to let go of items, an addiction to op-shopping and the discovery of my Oma’s old wardrobe. I wanted to translate my hoarding habits (happily passed down by my mother) into something productive, and alas, Lady Schmintage was born.”
LSB: And who would Lady Schmintage be?
Chantelle: ”Although vintage clothing is becoming increasingly fashionable, ‘Schmintage’ makes its own rules. Whether you consider yourself a dictator of the fashion-world or feel a little lost in the style-stakes, the mission of Lady Schmintage is to hunt down pre-loved and thrifted finds and make them work for the modern girl – no matter her personality. Lady Schmintage isn’t just about getting the ‘vintage look’, it’s about getting a look that works for you.”
LSB: What does the future hold for Lady Schmintage and yourself in 2013?
Chantelle: “I’m very excited to put more dedication, love and effort into Lady Schmintage now that I’ve finished university. In 2013, I hope to build my presence online (with an official website in the works) and collaborate with others, such as Love Street Boutique, to bring my ideas to life. The only way is onwards and upwards!”
And the only way is up we say! You can find Lady Schmintage here in-store at Shop 15/201 Mann Street, Gosford.

Yesterday marked the first day of the 12 DAYS OF XMAS store preview! We’re open for a squiz 12pm until 4pm everyday right up until Christmas Eve. Yesterday we even had Skubz, a local street artist as our in-store working artist for the day.

It’s a slice of time for us to settle into our new physical abode, showcase what’s currently on offer and what’s to come. It’s also a chance for interested locals to come in and collaborate or stock handmade wares and artwork in the store and gain a foothold in the area - a bit of a platform to springboard from if you will.

We’re all about the LOVE of creativity… selling new and vintage fashion, handmade accessories and homewares, art and exhibitions as well as personal and commercial photography, fashion and event services - with our own in-store conceptual events kicking off in 2013.

So pop in and say hello!
